Description:
With 90+ dog-friendly restaurant patios, over 4,000 acres of greenspace and 59% of Plano hotels being pet-friendly, Plano is one of the most dog friendly cities in America. The #PlanoPup campaign launched during National Travel & Tourism Week with a new pet-friendly resource web page and a video of dogs exploring downtown Plano. People were encouraged to stop by the new visitor center for a free #PlanoPup bandana and treats. Pet-friendly hotels received a pet travel package with a dog bowl, bandanas, and treats at our NTTW event. The Plano Pup Days of Summer photo contest gave three lucky dogs the chance to win a $500 vacation for their family.

Objective:
  • Increase web traffic driven from social media (Plano Pup #9 page on website).
  • Increase foot traffic to the new visitor center that opened August 2017 (visitors increased by more than double).
  • Increase room bookings for pet friendly hotels.
  • Increase awareness of Plano’s pet-friendly tourism & encourage visitors to explore Plano with their dogs (#PlanoPup posts on social media).
  • Become the go-to source of pet-friendly information for visitors and the community (collaborated on many projects like Bark in Park with Parks & Rec, etc.).
