Description:
Thanks to the talents of George Strait, Amarillo is already well known by song. This campaign uses that familiarity to encourage visitors to Amarillo in the morning. For 2018, all social advertising has been converted to include a sunrise and appropriate copy. Digital billboards and message boards were added that welcomed visitors arriving before 12 noon. The mobile app featured an early morning view of Palo Duro Canyon State Park. The Society of American Travel Writers Central States Meeting featured a theme and graphics of Amarillo By Morning. Morning emphasis will continue during 2018.

Objective:
Increase morning visitation to Amarillo. By necessity, than encourages an overnight stay in Amarillo the night before.

In-house

Project Cost: No new costs were incurred as we added the Amarillo By Morning theme to many items already existing in the budget. Budget items were less than $20,000 of total advertising and promotional budget.

Description:
The Beaumont Birding Package is a new promotion targeting birdwatchers. Designed to spread the word about the best birding along the Texas Gulf Coast, the package features an exclusive hotel rate with an exclusive Birding Itinerary, souvenir Beaumont Birding photo book, Checklist, Trail Maps, and a Beaumont Birdie. The Beaumont CVB offers group tour planning assistance when a group uses Beaumont hotel rooms. New collateral developed for the package included a 4-day itinerary with map of 28 Great Texas Coastal Birding Trails within 40-mile radius. A Birding Checklist was compiled of 7 GTC birding trails to educate the reader on what types of birds they could expect to see at each site. A 80-page Beaumont Birding souvenir book was created and published featuring beautiful photos taken by local photographers of birds and at area birding locations. These items were packaged with a Beaumont Birdie along with a special guaranteed hotel rate for 2018.

Objective:
The objectives of the Beaumont Birding Package are to build year-round business with fall and spring migration; to establish an identity for Beaumont as a birding destination, and to track and attribute hotel roomnights to bird watchers and nature tourism. The CVB also created supporting marketing materials for the birding market. Supplementing materials are used at birding festivals to promote the area and sell the Beaumont Birding Package. Birding Itinerary - This four-day Birding Itinerary takes visitors to Beaumont’s regional hotspots. Within a 40-mile radius, guests will find diverse habitats and hundreds of bird species. Some of the birding hotpots include the wild coastal shores of Sabine Pass and Sea Rim State Park, Anahuac Wildlife Refuge, Big Thicket National Preserve, Piney Woods, Sabine Woods and Cattail Marsh WetlandsThe Beaumont Birding Book was published to showcase the birding area and what it offers, but more importantly to serve as a way to take a piece of Beaumont and the rest of Southeast Texas home. The nature photography in the book was taken post-Hurricane Harvey (Fall 2017) by locals who graciously allowed the CVB to publish their photos to help promote the area’s vast offerings. Photography Contest The “Capturing the Nature of Southeast Texas” Digital Photo Contest is open to all professional and amateur photographers who are interested in capturing the wildlife, nature and overall serene environment of southeast Texas. The contest will run June 1 - August 31, 2018 at 12:00 PM. Details for entry are online at: http://www.beaumontcvb.com/things-to-do/birding/ph... Beaumont Birdies are part of a new tourism marketing initiative designed to capture the interest of a broader audience in the birding community and increase awareness of Beaumont’s birding hot-spots. The CVB’s Beaumont Birdies seek to bridge the demographic gap in the birdwatching market and find a new way to introduce birding to a new generation.
