Visit Plano

1 of 4
Description:
Plano was recently named the Happiest City in America by WalletHub, so during National Travel & Tourism Week Visit Plano wanted to showcase to the Plano community and to visitors what makes us “Happy in Plano, Texas”. This was accomplished through a dedicated blog post on visitplano.com with an accompanying video highlighting the foodie scene, adventure, signature events, arts & culture, shopping & nightlife, family-friendliness, and pet-friendliness as well as Plano tourism statistics. In promotion of National Travel & Tourism Week, Visit Plano ran a 2-week contest on Facebook using Woobox for a foodie vacation to Plano including $1,000 worth of donated restaurant gift cards and a donated hotel stay. In addition, in order to increase Visit Plano Visitor Center walk-ins, Visit Plano gave away branded stainless steel water bottles during National Travel & Tourism Week. This giveaway was promoted on social media and on a sidewalk chalkboard outside of the Visitor Center in a high walking traffic area. Visit Plano also hosted a Hotel Social at Legacy Hall for hotel staff in honor of National Travel & Tourism Week; each hotelier was also given a chance to write-in their name into the contest. As a result of this campaign, Visit Plano received over 1,100 entries into the contest with emails to re-target, 145 contest shares on Facebook, over 350 video views on YouTube, and gave away 50+ stainless water bottles in the Visitor Center.

Objective:
First, to highlight Plano’s newest accolade of being named the Happiest City in America through a blog post and video highlighting the foodie scene, adventure, signature events, arts & culture, shopping & nightlife, family-friendliness, and pet-friendliness. Second, to run a promotion on Facebook to highlight Plano as a foodie destination during National Travel & Tourism Week. Third, to increase Visit Plano Visitor Center walk-ins to help promote what Visit Plano is and how the team can help Plano visitors discover more to do in Plano during their stay. And fourth, to recognize the Plano hotel teams who serve Plano visitors every day.

Project Costs: $400 total ($100 for Facebook boosting of contest; $300 for hotel social).
